These little Montreal girls wanted to grow up and be great baseball players, just like the Montreal Expos. But then the Expos got sold and renamed for another city, and the grown up girls got told they couldn’t play professional baseball… “cause you’re GIRLS! Girls don’t play baseball!” Well! They weren’t about to take no for an answer! They used their baseball bats to show those nitwits EXACTLY what girls can do…
They lobbied for women’s baseball, broke a few kneecaps, posed for magazines to raise funds… but no matter how many they bribed or beat up, they still couldn’t get their league approved, due to claims of unladylike behavior. They were down to their last batter when Montreal Roller Derby found them and gave them a new will to live… to fight… and to skate! Today, they still hit hard, and play catch. Except they’re catching and hitting women on the track… and off the track. Because as we all know, there are no balls in roller derby.
